Satellite Terminals
Operational areas for mobile Terminals
Antenna Research at IMST

In the following, you can find a list of research projects on mobile terminals which IMST has already carried out successfully or is still working on:

Research projects focus on antenna and frontend developments of mobile terminals for satellite communication. Sophisticated projects, sponsored by the ESA and the DLR (the European and German Space Agencies), concentrate on the deployment of antenna and frontend systems for mobile platforms (maritime, ground, in the air), mainly focusing on services such as multimedia, navigation, and communication. The operating frequencies vary from about 1.5-1.6 GHz up to 20-30 GHz (Ka-band). We study terminals for existing satellite systems such as Inmarsat or SES-Astra, up to future systems like Teledesic. The applications envisaged include mobile terminals for cars and trucks with regard to broadcast services, and 'Internet in the sky' (multimedia services on board of plains).

The participation in these research projects qualifies us to translate our findings into practice for our customers.
