Device-positioning has become an integral part of modern communication units. Especially in combination with communications systems, navigation solutions require low-power integrated circuits and suitable software. Future-proof solutions are those which offer not only the GPS and GLONAS standards, but also the so-called overlay systems (GNSS/WAAS) which improve the positioning accuracy. Future applications should furthermore include the projected European satellite navigation system GALILEO (to be operational in 2008).

IMST has recognised these trends at a very early stage. Various development projects have been launched, including close cooperations with partners such as the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft e.V., IIS-A and IFEN GmbH to develop new, innovative approaches. Apart from enabling us to develop custom-made application solutions, this cooperation allows us to provide a wide range of powerful, innovative, analogous RF-IP (intellectual properties), digital baseband-IP and software for satellite navigation. These IPs are mainly developed to meet the demands of communications technology.
