ORAMA plus - A Computer Tool for the Design of Nonuniformly Spaced Antenna Arrays

G. S. Miaris, Th. Kaifas and J. N. Sahalos

A computer tool (ORAMA plus) for synthesis of nonuniformly spaced antenna arrays is presented. The classical orthogonal method, (OM), for the excitations and the orthogonal perturbation method, (OP), for the geometry derivation are used. In the OP we start from an initial array and we derive the perturbation of the positions of the elements by using the OM. A significant change of the initial pattern can be obtained only by using an iterative procedure. The final position of the elements is found from the last iteration where the desired approximation of the pattern is obtained. Several design cases with various constraints are presented. ORAMA plus can be used by professional antenna engineers. A set of examples for different array patterns show the usefulness of the tool.
